Alexandra Raisman

Aly Raisman was a U.S. Olympic captain for the team that took home gold in the year 2012. She has won six Olympic medals, all in all and was part of two gold medal-winning World Championships teams. The native of Needham, Massachusetts, Aly's interest in the sport can be traced to an early "mommy and me" gymnastics class she took at the age of 18 months. Aly is a powerful leader both in the gym and off, and a fierce advocate for body positivity and recently, she came out in support of Larry Nassar in his sentencing trial. Aly Raisman, born in 1994, took up gymnastics when she was an infant and was instrumental in helping her U.S. team to win the 2011 World Championships. Aly Raisman won two medals during 2012 at the London Summer Olympics, one for the team and another for the floor exercise. In the year 2016, Raisman returned to the Olympics in Rio she won silver medals in the individual all-around final and floor exercise and gold in the women's team gymnastics event. In 2017, Raisman revealed she had suffered sexual assault at the hands of former team doctor Larry Nassar, and the subsequent year, she sued USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
